Cancellation Policy
I have a 24-hour, no-exceptions cancellation policy. Please contact me directly via-email
If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance there is a $150 out of pocket fee I will charge directly to you via your card on file regardless of reason for cancellation. Like any other fee for service job (i.e. massage therapist, hair stylist), my livelihood depends on your payment based on the services I provide. When the service is not provided, I cannot bill your insurance and this affects my income. I am willing to waive that fee if we are able to reschedule for another time during the same business week contingent on my availability.
Why no exceptions? I completely understand life happens. People get sick, cars break down, kids have to stay home from school, bosses schedule last minute meetings. All of these are stressful. I have implemented a no-exceptions policy because it helps me have consistent boundaries with clients when I do not have to decide on a case by case basis what is a valid reason to cancel. They are all valid in their way, and I empathize, and I’ve found in my years in private practice that it is best for the therapeutic relationship that all cancellations made within 24-hours of the appointment will incur a fee. It helps us have a healthy, professional relationship when there is nothing personal and minimal relational friction about your cancellation.
The time during the week we schedule is an important time I have committed to you. Please keep in mind that a last minute cancellation takes away an opportunity for another client to receive care.
If I have to cancel, I will let you know as soon as possible and there is no charge to you if I am unable to make our session.
